About Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an ancient form of traditional Eastern medicine that involves the use of very thin needles that are inserted just below the skin at strategic points in the body known as 'acupuncture points'. This is believed to help regulate the body's flow of energy (Qi) and restore health.

Acupuncture has been extensively used to restore, promote and maintain good health. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recognises a wide variety of conditions that can be treated effectively by acupuncture.

For further information on the effectiveness of acupuncture for a variety of conditions please refer to individual factsheets published by the British Acupuncture Council.
